About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is a PRN role focused on providing comprehensive patient care within a multidisciplinary team. The RN is responsible for coordinating care, utilizing the nursing process to enhance patient outcomes, and demonstrating leadership and accountability in their practice. This role emphasizes whole-person care, addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients, while adhering to established policies and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the efforts of the multidisciplinary care team for patients within the RN's scope of responsibility.
• Provide direct patient care and collaborate with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
• Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to maintain and improve patient outcomes.
• Demonstrate leadership and management skills while committing to professional accountability and growth.
• Assure patient safety by adhering to established policies and procedures and utilizing patient safety resources.
• Implement a plan of care according to identified physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
• Prioritize nursing interventions based on patient needs and available resources.
• Participate in bedside shift report, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding.
• Provide patient teaching and discharge planning to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Kansas Registered Nurse License
• BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
