About the position

The Paint Process Engineer at Magna Exteriors is responsible for developing, implementing, and documenting parameter settings for paint processes and application equipment to ensure quality standards are met. This role involves collaboration with paint management and suppliers, as well as participation in continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will also track and report on process capabilities and trends, contributing to a positive and productive workplace environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations in accordance with company policies and business objectives.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and leadership skills in a positive working environment.

  • Support customer quality standards and Decostar's operational standards.
  • Perform daily cross-functional job assignments as per established procedures.
  • Foster respect, cooperation, and ethical conduct in all operations with customers and suppliers.
  • Develop, implement, verify, and document parameter settings for paint processes and application equipment.
  • Track, record, and prepare management reports on process capability and trends.
  • Coordinate with paint management and personnel on process-related projects and improvements.
  • Communicate with paint suppliers regarding usage optimization and quality issues.
  • Collect application and performance data on new technology tested in the painting process.
  • Participate in continuous improvement teams as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required, or five years of related work experience may be substituted.
  • Previous automotive finishing and robotic experience required.
  • Experience with industrial control, computer technology, and programming is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project (or similar).
  • Fluent in English (reading and writing).
  • Technical ability in robot programming, maintenance activities, and PLC programming.
  • Must be computer literate on the Windows platform.
  • Must pass Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Point Hue Test Annually.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Project (or similar).
  • Experience with industrial control, computer technology, and programming.
