About the position

At SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - St. Charles, we are looking for a dedicated Painter to join our facilities maintenance team. This role is essential in ensuring that our hospital environment remains safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing for both patients and staff. The Painter will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on various systems and equipment within the hospital. This includes working on fire systems, nurse call systems, and medical gas systems, among others. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety and quality, as well as a passion for providing exceptional service in a healthcare setting. The Painter will be tasked with executing repairs based on work orders or verbal instructions, ensuring that all documentation is completed in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role requires collaboration with vendors, contractors, and factory representatives to facilitate the repair and replacement of equipment. The Painter will also assist contractors with connections and shut-offs for water and fire systems, demonstrating a proactive approach to maintenance and repair tasks. In addition to technical skills, the Painter will perform basic plumbing and electrical repairs, as well as appliance repairs, which may include changing light bulbs and installing light fixtures. Carpentry skills are also essential, as the role involves minor construction projects such as drywall installation, flooring repairs, and painting. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is a critical aspect of this position, which includes debris removal and proper material storage. The Painter will be expected to work in a constant state of alertness and safety, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs repairs according to work orders or verbal instructions and compiles proper documentation following established policies and procedures.
• Identifies and requests parts and components needed to complete tasks.
• Works with vendors, contractors, and factory representatives regarding the repair and replacement of equipment.
• Assists contractors and other personnel with connections and shut-offs for water and fire systems.
• Performs basic plumbing and electrical repairs and appliance repairs, including changing light bulbs and replacing ballasts.
• Performs carpentry and minor construction projects, including installation and repair of drywall, walls, flooring, ceramic tile, cabinetry, countertops, shelving, and painting.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment, including debris/trash removal and heavy lifting/moving of materials and equipment.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years' experience in a similar role.
