About the position

The Palletizer Operator is responsible for safely operating palletizing machinery to ensure that quality finished cans are properly loaded and packaged on pallets for shipment. This entry-level position requires attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols while managing machinery and inspecting products.

Responsibilities

• Manage machinery set-up and adjustment and inspect products to ensure compliance to standards.
• Operate the controls of the palletizing machine to load cans, slip sheets, and top frames onto pallets with the correct configuration.
• Stand up tipped cans, replace voids, and remove jams to maintain standard production.
• Visually examine cans for defects and discard as appropriate, monitoring larger patterns for proper packing.
• Visually examine pallets, top frames, and slip-sheets, removing any defective items.
• Check drops and conveyor system when flow is stopped and clear minor jams as necessary.
• Report equipment malfunctions or can quality issues to the Team Leader or Back End Maintainer.
• Maintain cleanliness of work area and follow safe working procedures, reporting unsafe conditions immediately.
• Maintain proper production ticket printing records and complete all required process control checks.
• Maintain a safety awareness attitude and comply with safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Able to read and understand date codes and pallet tickets.
• Know how to operate a computer to generate pallet tickets and understand the procedures for application.
• Ability to learn and understand overall can quality requirements and identify defects.
• Ability to learn quality requirements of packaging and basics of the can-making process.
• Basic data entry skills.
