About the position

Apple is seeking a world-class engineer to identify and incubate new display technologies. This role involves collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to shape display technologies for Apple products, focusing on development, prototyping, and communication of display panel technologies. The successful candidate will educate a broad audience at Apple about the benefits and trade-offs of these technologies, working in a fast-paced environment with a diverse team of engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and analyze trade-offs of state-of-the-art panel designs, architecture, and related processes.
  • Define panel technology development scope, requirements, and roadmap.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to establish panel requirements.
  • Define panel electrical and optical architectures for optimal display performance.
  • Conduct electrical and optical characterization of displays, perform failure analysis, and define corrective action DOEs.

Requirements

  • BS degree and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in the development of active matrix displays or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of display technologies covering backplane and front-plane and their interdependencies.
  • Background in display panel technology development and integration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge in flat panel display technologies, panel design, related fabrication processes, device physics, and optoelectronics.
  • Experience in panel testing, validation, failure analysis, and defining corrective DOEs.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using coding languages such as Python or Matlab.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
