About the position
The Paraeducator position at Alexander Graham Bell Montessori School is designed to support students in a blended early childhood program, catering to both general education and special education students. The role involves working closely with lead teachers to provide instructional support, assist with daily activities, and help maintain a conducive learning environment for young children aged 3-6 years.
Responsibilities
- Provide instructional support to students and lead teachers to meet program objectives.
- Collaborate with staff as a team member.
- Assist students with toileting and feeding needs.
- Support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce skills or concepts.
- Assist the classroom teacher in maintaining discipline.
- Alert the lead teacher to behavioral issues affecting instruction.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Student Services Coordinator.
Requirements
- Hold or be eligible for a Paraprofessional license from the Illinois State Board of Education.
- One of the following: Associate's degree, 60 semesters of coursework, high school diploma with passing scores on ETS Parapro exam or ACT.
