About the position
The Para-Pro Ex Ed One to One position at Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools is designed to provide dedicated support to students with special needs in both general and special education settings. The role involves assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of a student, implementing instructional plans, monitoring academic and behavioral progress, and collaborating with teachers to ensure effective communication and support for the student’s needs.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a mandated reporter to ensure student safety.
- Adapts classroom activities and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher or administrator to support IEP goals.
- Administers tests, homework, and make-up work to support student needs.
- Assists in the personal care of students, including feeding and diapering, and may require physical lifting.
- Monitors, collects, and records students' behavioral and academic data as directed by the certified teacher.
- Assists students with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
- Facilitates and models appropriate social interactions and behaviors among students.
- Supervises and promotes independence during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and other activities.
- Participates in professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special populations.
- Maintains professionalism and confidentiality while collaborating with teachers.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in applicable field of study or 48 college credit hours from an accredited institution or successful completion of Praxis certification.
- Successful completion of TN Para Pro Assessment.
