About the position
The Para-Pro Ex Ed One to One position is designed to provide dedicated support to a student with special needs within the educational environment. This role involves assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of the student, implementing instructional plans, monitoring academic and behavioral progress, and collaborating with teachers and school personnel to ensure the student's needs are met effectively.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a mandated reporter to ensure the safety of the student.
- Adapts classroom activities and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher or administrator to support IEP goals.
- Administers tests, homework, and make-up work to support student needs in the classroom.
- Assists in the personal care of students, including feeding and diapering, and may involve physically lifting students.
- Monitors, collects, and records students' behavioral and academic data as directed by the certified teacher.
- Assists students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
- Facilitates and models appropriate social interactions and behaviors among students.
- Supervises and promotes independence with individualized attention during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and other activities.
- Participates in professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special populations.
- Maintains professionalism and confidentiality while collaborating with teachers.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in applicable field of study or 48 hours of college credit from an accredited institution or successful completion of Praxis certification.
- Successful completion of TN Para Pro Assessment.
