About the position

The Para Professional/Permanent Substitute role at BridgePrep Academy involves supporting teachers in delivering high-quality instruction and creating an inclusive learning environment for all students. The position focuses on enhancing student engagement, addressing diverse learning needs, and fostering social and emotional development. The role is essential in maintaining a cooperative relationship with students, families, and staff while contributing to the overall academic success of the students.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to teachers to meet student and classroom needs
• Provide instruction to students under the direction of teacher; work with individual students or small groups
• Help teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
• Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for the communities in which they identify
• Implement and uphold BPA behavior management system that aligns with campus-wide initiatives while developing students' character and sense of community in the classroom
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom
• Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports
• Collect and analyze student data to make effective decisions to maximize achievement
• Discuss student's progress with teachers, counselors, and administrators
• Communicate students' progress with students as needed
• Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom
• Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students
• Maintain confidentiality
• Engage in summer and year-long district, school, and personal learning and development as needed

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in a classroom setting preferred
• Strong collaborating skills
• Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment
• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
