About the position

The Paraeducator Autism position at Fresno Unified School District involves assisting in providing instruction to students with special needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum. Under the direction of a supervisor and general guidance from certificated personnel, the paraeducator will help meet the educational and behavioral needs of these students in both classroom and community settings. This role is essential in fostering an inclusive learning environment and supporting the diverse needs of students.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing instruction to individual or small groups of students with special needs.
• Support the educational and behavioral needs of students with Autism under the guidance of certificated personnel.
• Participate in training on specific behavioral and educational interventions for autism.
• Attend monthly workshops as identified by FUSD staff.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Completed 48 college units or NCLB compliance equivalent.
• Experience working with school-age children, preferably with autistic children in a classroom environment.
• Completion of Paraprofessional Competency Certification in Autism through Fresno Unified School District.
