About the position

The Paraeducator MH position at Wyoming Child & Family Development, Inc. in Douglas, WY, is a full-time role focused on assisting classroom teachers in delivering individualized early childhood education programs. The role emphasizes social competence and school readiness for children, particularly those with special needs, in a one-on-one setting. The Paraeducator will work closely with education staff to plan activities, maintain classroom environments, and support the delivery of specialized services.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct individual specialized instruction under the supervision of the classroom education teacher.
  • Assists the education staff in the daily planning and preparation of classroom activities.
  • Maintains class areas in a clean and orderly manner on a daily basis.
  • Uses positive verbal and non-verbal communication and interaction skills when working with staff, students, and parents.
  • Collaborates with staff and special education teacher in developing appropriate IFSP/IEP related activities.
  • Participates in meetings with program staff for feedback, evaluation, modification, and progress of enrolled children.
  • Participates in preschool screening activities as designated by the Special Services Director/Area Director/Center Director.
  • Assists the teacher/home visitor in staffing through observation, recording, and reporting on a child's individual progress.
  • Provides support for the delivery of Speech Language Therapy services through Tiny EYE direct services to children.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate and complete student records.
  • Communicates effectively with staff, children, and families.
  • Recruits children and families for program enrollment in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or a G.E.D. and be 18 years of age.
  • Must attain additional training or certifications as required by Wyoming Child and Family Development, Inc.
  • In the absence of an early childhood degree, must attend CDA training and apply for a Child Development Associates Credential.
  • Must be able to work well with children (ages birth through 5 years), especially those with special needs.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, children, families, and community.
  • Needs to be well organized and able to problem solve.
  • Must have knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for children.
  • Ability to follow and successfully complete both written and oral directions is necessary.
  • Must possess interpersonal skills to work with a variety of personality types.
  • Must have proper stress management techniques.

Benefits

  • Base hourly rate of $15.59
  • Full-time position of 30 hours a week/176 days a year
