About the position
This position works in the Agency's Palmer office and is responsible for assisting attorneys in managing cases, providing direct client assistance, and preparing cases for trial. Additionally, this position coordinates the Agency's Holistic Defense activities for Palmer, working directly with clients to help them access services to improve case outcomes and directing the social service navigation work of AmeriCorps member(s) volunteering in the office. The holistic defense approach seeks to address the non-legal barriers to effective integration into communities that Agency clients face. The position works closely with our holistic partners at the Alaska Legal Service Corporation.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in managing cases.
- Provide direct client assistance.
- Prepare cases for trial.
- Coordinate the Agency's Holistic Defense activities.
- Help clients access services to improve case outcomes.
- Direct the social service navigation work of AmeriCorps members.
Requirements
- Post-secondary and/or vocational education in a legal or legal support area.
- Experience preparing, reviewing, or processing legal documents.
- Ability to obtain a Notary Public upon hire.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
