About the position

The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, Division of Corporations, Business & Professional Licensing is recruiting for Paralegal 2 located in Anchorage or Juneau! At the Corporation, Business and Professional Licensing Division, Paralegals serve to ensure competent, professional, and regulated services are delivered to the community by investigating alleged continuing education violations of statutes and regulations governing 43 different licensed professions in the State of Alaska. The Paralegal is the Division's focal point for all Freedom of Information Act document requests in accordance with the Alaska Public Records Act. The paralegal is further responsible for reporting of professional licensing disciplinary actions to national databanks as required by law.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate alleged continuing education violations of statutes and regulations governing licensed professions in Alaska.
  • Serve as the focal point for Freedom of Information Act document requests.
  • Report professional licensing disciplinary actions to national databanks.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of legal and investigative principles, methods, and processes.
  • Ability to identify rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts and data.
  • Competency with standard office equipment and fluency with Microsoft Office.
  • Clear and professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
