Paralegal - Bankruptcy

About the position

The Bankruptcy Paralegal will support attorneys in a top-ranked national law firm, focusing on bankruptcy law, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 filings. This role involves comprehensive assistance throughout the bankruptcy process, ensuring compliance with legal standards and effective communication with clients and courts.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys in the preparation and filing of Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements, and related documents.
• Draft bankruptcy-related pleadings, motions, and other legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local and federal rules.
• Manage and organize case files, including maintaining electronic and paper records, tracking deadlines, and ensuring timely filings.
• Communicate with clients, creditors, trustees, and courts, providing status updates and gathering necessary information for bankruptcy proceedings.
• Prepare for and attend hearings, meetings of creditors, and other bankruptcy-related events.
• Perform legal research on bankruptcy law issues, including current case law, statutes, and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certification (ABA-approved program preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a bankruptcy paralegal, with a solid understanding of federal bankruptcy rules and local court procedures.
• Proficient in bankruptcy-related software, including Case Management software (e.g., BestCase, Clio, etc.).
