About the position

Diaspora Law, a boutique immigration law office located in Elizabeth, NJ, is seeking a dedicated and bilingual Paralegal to join our dynamic team. This position is essential in supporting our immigration law practice and requires a minimum of bilingual proficiency in Spanish, with multilingual abilities being a plus. The ideal candidate will possess strong English writing skills and a professional demeanor, as this role sets the first impression for our clients from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will be responsible for welcoming clients courteously and respectfully, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude. The Paralegal will be highly organized and capable of managing multiple administrative tasks efficiently. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, answering phones professionally, and maintaining effective communication within the firm and with external contacts. The role also involves organizing files, keeping records of court appearances, scheduling meetings, and processing payments. The candidate must be adept at maintaining calendars and inventory records, creating effective correspondence, and performing data entry and general administrative tasks such as scanning and filing documents. In addition to administrative duties, the Paralegal will provide support to attorneys and other staff members in preparing, filing, and tracking various immigration applications and petitions. This includes gathering supporting documents and assisting with all other duties as assigned. The position also emphasizes community and client outreach, reflecting our commitment to serving the immigrant community. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish (required)
  • Proficient in English with good writing skills (required)
  • Experience in immigration law and litigation (2 years required)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Experience with multi-line telephone systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Dependability and punctuality are required
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
