About the position

Our personal injury firm is seeking a vibrant and proactive Paralegal/Case Manager who is eager to grow within the firm long-term. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of personal injury law, particularly in areas such as premise cases, ride-sharing incidents, and government claims. This role is crucial in managing a caseload of 80-100 pre-litigation and litigation personal injury cases, ensuring that all aspects of case management are handled efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the support staff, frequently communicating with clients, insurance companies, and other relevant parties to facilitate the progression of cases. In this position, you will review and analyze medical records, assist clients in navigating medical providers and procedures, and prepare files for submission to the demands department. A team-oriented and positive attitude is essential, as you will be scheduling medical appointments, organizing and maintaining client files in electronic form, and assisting attorneys with daily tasks. You will also be responsible for calendaring deadlines and tracking due dates to ensure timely actions are taken on all cases. Your duties will include opening claims with insurance companies, processing property damage claims, preparing drafts of written discovery requests, responses, and personal injury complaints, and filing pleadings/documents with the court. You will prepare legal pleadings such as motions, deposition notices, and subpoenas to obtain records and documentation. Additionally, you will guide the process for gathering relevant materials and preparing responses to litigation demands, discovery requests, subpoenas, and agency claims. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to handle a large volume of personal injury pre-litigation cases.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the support staff
  • Manage 80-100 PI pre-litigation and litigation cases
  • Frequently contact and communicate with clients, insurance and other companies
  • Review and analyze medical records
  • Assist clients in navigating medical providers and procedures

  • Organize and maintain client files in electronic form, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Assist attorneys with daily tasks
  • Calendar deadlines and track due dates to ensure timely actions
  • Open claims with insurance companies
  • Process property damage claims
  • Prepare drafts of written discovery requests, responses, and PI complaints
  • File pleadings/documents with the court with all appropriate attachments required per court
  • Prepare legal pleadings, such as motions, 998s, deposition notices
  • Prepare subpoenas to obtain records and documentation
  • Assist with the production of documents and information by analyzing requests, consulting with internal partners, and obtaining, reviewing and producing documents
  • Guide the process for gathering relevant materials and preparing responses to litigation demands, discovery requests, subpoenas and agency claims
  • Organize and process pleadings, correspondence, exhibits and other documents
  • Coordinate document collections/productions
  • Prepare objections/responses to subpoenas
  • Manage service of process and daily calendaring/docketing of case
  • Draft routine correspondence and support special projects, including fact investigations and interviews; create internal templates, guidelines, and playbooks

Requirements

  • Must be bilingual in Spanish and English
  • At least two (2) years' experience working in PI case management
  • Detail-oriented professional with a positive outlook
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and excellent customer service
  • Ability to handle large volume of personal injury pre-litigation cases
  • Type at least 70 wpm
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
