About the position

The Construction Contracts Paralegal will work in-house for a Premier General Contractor, focusing on managing risk associated with construction contracts. This role involves reviewing contracts, NDAs, and purchase orders to identify and mitigate legal risks, ensuring compliance and completeness of documents, and collaborating with various levels of management to secure necessary contract changes.

Responsibilities

  • Review all incoming contracts, NDAs, and purchase orders to identify, reduce, or eliminate risk.
  • Ensure completeness and quality of contract documents.
  • Identify contracts with legal implications and collaborate with Managers, Directors, or Executive Team for necessary changes.
  • Route contracts to Account Managers, Directors, and VPs for approval.
  • Prepare and track execution of contracts.
  • Compile contract documents with required signatures and informative materials, such as bonding and insurance.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree preferred or 2-year degree with 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Understanding of legal risks inherent within the construction industry and the contracting process.
  • Experience with negotiating and resolving contractual risks and recommending mitigation practices.
  • Knowledge of contract terminology, practices, and concepts; familiarity with construction contracts is an asset.
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
  • High degree of computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
