About the position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced paralegal to support our growing legal team, specifically in the criminal law field. The ideal candidate will utilize their organizational skills and work experience to prepare and maintain legal documents, file motions, interview clients, and conduct legal research. This position is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of our legal processes and providing support to our attorneys.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate law office activity, including the drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers.
• Assist lawyers in preparing legal documentation, pleadings, and correspondence including interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits.
• Organize our case filing systems to ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate, and perform other administrative duties as needed.
• Aid lawyers in trial preparation by preparing and organizing exhibits, coordinating witnesses, conducting research on legal articles, and assisting with client meetings and filing motions.
• Hold client interviews to gather information about their legal problems.
• Compile, organize and redact discovery documents.
• Provide case status updates to the clients.
• Call the Court and opposing counsel to schedule hearings.

Requirements

• 1 year of paralegal experience in criminal law (Required)
• Bachelor's degree (Preferred)
• Spanish writing skills (Preferred)
• Strong organizational skills
• Proofreading skills
