About the position

As a Paralegal within the AMER legal team at IHG, you will play a crucial role in supporting employment, litigation, and operations matters. This position offers a unique opportunity to grow and develop your skills while working on various legal issues and supporting different functions and business units. We are looking for someone who is flexible, proactive, and eager to collaborate with others. Your responsibilities will include conducting complex legal research, managing litigation matters, and reviewing and drafting legal documents. You may also act on behalf of the Company in simple legal matters, providing essential support to our attorneys and enhancing the legal counsel provided to our clients. In this role, you will independently conduct legal research and handle factual investigations, data gathering, and document analysis necessary for preparing litigation pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, and other legal documents. You will draft and review legal documents with minimal guidance, including management agreements, contracts, and corporate bylaws, while ensuring the final resolution of legal issues is expedited and monitored. Additionally, you will gather, maintain, and analyze information from various sources related to legal matters, preparing correspondence and legal documents as required. You will also perform administrative tasks, such as managing the legal library, conducting government filings, and acting as the primary point of contact for service of process. Your role will involve preparing reports, charts, and presentations, notarizing documents, and liaising with internal and external contacts to convey information effectively. This position requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and excellent communication skills to interact with individuals at all levels within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex legal research independently and accurately.
  • Handle factual investigations, data gathering, and document analysis for litigation pleadings and other legal documents.
  • Draft and review legal documents with minimal guidance from attorneys.
  • Expedite and monitor the resolution of legal issues subject to attorney review.
  • Gather, maintain, organize, analyze, and disseminate information related to legal matters.
  • Prepare correspondence, pleadings, contracts, and other legal documents with minimal guidance.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as legal library administration and data management.
  • Conduct government filings to fulfill legal rules and regulations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the Company and its registered agents for service of process.
  • Prepare reports, charts, and presentation data as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Paralegal Certification or a 4-year degree with 2 years of related experience and working towards a paralegal certificate.
  • 4 to 7 years of progressive work-related experience with significant research and drafting responsibilities in a corporate, governmental, or law firm environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research software.
  • Knowledge of legal concepts and terms, with effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
