About the position

The Paralegal, Ethics & Compliance at American Airlines plays a crucial role in supporting the Legal team by promoting ethical practices and compliance within the organization. This position involves administering the EthicsPoint helpline, conducting internal reviews, coordinating training, and preparing reports for various internal groups. The paralegal will work closely with attorneys to ensure that the company maintains high standards of integrity and compliance, contributing to a culture that values ethical decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Administer the EthicsPoint helpline, including case triage, assignment, quality control, and follow-up.
• Respond to inquiries from business leaders, investigators, and attorneys.
• Conduct internal background reviews and ensure compliance with training requirements.
• Coordinate training for attorneys in the Ethics Office and HR professionals, and support other training and communications efforts.
• Identify, draft, and circulate updates and improvements to Ethics Office policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Perform basic analytics to track key metrics for handling and disposition of EthicsPoint helpline cases.
• Assist in preparing periodic reports for the Audit Committee, Internal Audit, SOX Compliance, Safety Management System, and other internal groups as well as for quarterly compliance meetings.
• Maintain and update written materials, presentations, and spreadsheets to support Ethics Office attorneys.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience and training.
• At least three years of work experience in an in-house legal department or private law firm; prior ethics and compliance experience a plus.
