About the position

Oakton Community College is seeking a part-time Paralegal faculty member to join its dedicated team of educators. This role involves teaching courses related to paralegal studies, preparing instructional materials, and engaging with students in a culturally competent environment. Responsibilities

  • Construct a course syllabus consistent with the generic course syllabus that stipulates course objectives, content, and grading criteria.
  • Prepare course presentations and instructional materials for lectures, laboratories, and clinical functions as appropriate.
  • Deliver instruction, ensuring preparedness and meeting scheduled course and laboratory times.
  • Consult with and evaluate students, maintaining clear records on student performance and attendance.
  • Comply with departmental and institutional policies, including submission of midterm and final grades and keeping office hours.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree with three years of experience as a practicing paralegal.
  • Preferred: College teaching experience.
  • Preferred: License to practice law in the state of Illinois and experience working with paralegals, or possession of a Juris Doctorate degree and experience working with paralegals.
