About the position

The Paralegal for Family Law & Victims of Crime at Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida will provide direct legal services to victims of intimate partner violence and other crime victims. This role involves assisting attorneys with various family law matters, ensuring compliance with court requirements, and maintaining organized case files. The position emphasizes compassionate client support and effective case management within a non-profit legal services environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services to victims of crime, including human trafficking and intimate partner violence.
• Assist with family law matters such as divorce, paternity, mediation, and child support.
• Conduct client intake and interviews to gather relevant information.
• Draft pleadings and assist clients with necessary forms and applications.
• Maintain detailed and organized case files in the case management system.
• Calendar court dates and deadlines for attorneys.
• Track case progress and ensure timely management of cases.
• Coordinate with attorneys, court staff, and other professionals for comprehensive client support.
• Provide referrals to community organizations for holistic client support.
• Comply with program requirements including case management and reporting.

Requirements

• Associates degree in paralegal studies or related field, or paralegal certification; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years' experience in family law or related legal field preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Adobe Pro.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Strong understanding of family court procedures and legal documentation.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a high volume of cases efficiently.
• Detail-oriented and compassionate with a client-focused approach.
