The Family Law Paralegal position at K Perez, APC is a part-time role with the potential to transition into a full-time position as the needs of the firm evolve. This is a fully remote position, allowing for flexibility in work hours while ensuring that all necessary equipment will be provided to the successful candidate. The firm is currently composed of one attorney and one paralegal, and they are looking to expand their team with a dedicated individual who is passionate about family law. The ideal candidate will assist the attorney in managing legal cases and preparing for trials, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and organized. This role requires a strong understanding of family law, particularly within California, and the ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft various legal documents. The firm emphasizes the importance of attention to detail and effective communication skills, as the paralegal will be responsible for interacting with clients and witnesses, as well as coordinating meetings and court appearances. Responsibilities

  • Assist attorney in managing legal cases and preparing for trials
  • Transcribe legal documents, correspondence, and court proceedings
  • Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
  • Draft legal documents, such as contracts, pleadings, and briefs
  • Organize and maintain case files and documentation
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances
  • Interview clients and witnesses to gather necessary information for cases
  • Assist with project management and coordination of multiple cases simultaneously

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred
  • Proven experience working as a Family Law Paralegal
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
  • Proficient in legal case management software and tools
  • Excellent transcription skills with attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Westlaw or other legal research databases
  • Ability to proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities
