About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented paralegal to join our legal team at McKINNON LEGAL. In this role, you will be instrumental in assisting our lawyers with a variety of tasks that are crucial to the success of our legal operations. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing legal documents, filing motions, and conducting thorough legal research. You will play a key role in coordinating law office activities, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently. This position requires a high level of organization and attention to detail, as you will be managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. As a paralegal, you will draft a range of legal documents, including pleadings, correspondence, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits, all under the guidance of our experienced lawyers. You will also be responsible for coordinating with process servers and ensuring that subpoenas are drafted and served in a timely manner. Your research skills will be put to the test as you prepare for trials by gathering relevant legal articles, organizing exhibits, and coordinating witnesses. Additionally, you will assist in client meetings and conduct interviews to gather essential information about their legal issues. Responsibilities

  • Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under the guidance of a lawyer
  • Coordinate law office activity, including the drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers
  • Work with lawyers to prepare for trial by conducting research on legal articles, preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, filing motions, and assisting with client meetings
  • Hold client interviews to gather information about their legal problems
  • Take care of administrative tasks such as answering phones and maintaining an organized filing system for all legal documents

Requirements

  • Must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate's degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies
  • Bachelor's degree desired
  • Strong preference for candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have an advanced paralegal education
  • 3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
  • Must have great time-management skills and organizational skills
  • Talented communicator and writer
