About the position

FBC Mortgage is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Paralegal to join its in-house legal department in Orlando, FL. This hybrid position involves supporting the legal team by managing legal documents, assisting with contract administration, and monitoring industry regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while ensuring attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with the preparation and management of legal documents, including vendor contracts, leases, mortgage and real estate documents, legal holds, and other documents.
  • Maintain and organize physical and electronic files, ensuring all documents are filed correctly and accessible.
  • Conduct legal research and compile data for review by attorneys.
  • Monitor and track regulatory changes affecting the mortgage industry and assist in updating internal policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and schedule internal and external meetings.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate with clients, external counsel, and other departments to gather information and provide updates on legal matters.
  • Handle review of routine consumer complaints and draft initial responses to same.
  • Updating and managing legal reports and managing legal queue.
  • Perform general administrative duties, including answering phones, managing calendars, and processing mail and electronic signatures.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in a related field; a Bachelor's degree, current Law student, or Paralegal Certificate is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience as a legal assistant or in a similar role, preferably within the mortgage or real estate industry.
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures, especially in mortgage law.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and legal research tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to the mortgage industry is a plus.
