The ideal candidate will be proactive and possess prior experience in general liability. Knowledge of federal and state statutes, rules, and procedures is required. Responsibilities

  • Drafting legal memoranda including pleadings, discovery demands and responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and discovery motions.
  • Organizing, charting, and processing incoming records and invoices.
  • Following up for outstanding records via telephone, e-mail, and regular mail.
  • Preparing answers and correspondence.
  • Managing a large caseload and working with multiple attorneys.
  • Reviewing documents for relevance and privilege in preparation for disclosure.
  • Conducting case law research using Lexis and public access websites to assist with strategies for defense.
  • Assisting with preparing attorneys for mediation and trial.
  • Retrieving documents from and saving to the document management system.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal.
  • Experience with NY courts including e-filing.
  • Billing experience.
  • Experience in drafting legal documents.
  • Proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook and Word.
  • Excellent organizational, scheduling, and calendaring skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with the Aderant Total Office (ATO).
  • Familiarity with Lexis Advance.
