About the position

Rupp Pfalzgraf LLC is a full-service law firm located in Buffalo, New York, dedicated to providing high-quality legal services with a focus on client satisfaction. We are currently seeking a Paralegal to join our Health Law and Trust & Estate Planning teams. This role is essential in supporting our attorneys in various legal tasks related to estate administration, guardianship appointments, and Medicaid application processes. The successful candidate will work closely with Partner Thomas Lang and will be responsible for preparing documentation related to estate planning and administration, facilitating the guardianship appointment process, and assisting clients with Medicaid applications for various care settings. The Paralegal will play a crucial role in coordinating with clients, healthcare providers, and government agencies to gather and organize necessary information while maintaining client confidentiality and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of health law and estate planning, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills. Responsibilities

  • Preparation of documentation relating to estate planning and estate administration.
  • Support the process for guardianship appointments, including Article 81 and 17A guardianships.
  • Facilitate the Medicaid application process for chronic care, assisted living, ALP, and community settings.
  • Provide support during the application process, as well as during fair hearings and appeals.
  • Coordinate with clients, healthcare providers, and government agencies to gather and organize relevant information.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in health law, trust, and estate planning, or a related field.
  • Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field preferred.
  • Certification from an ABA-approved paralegal certification program is desirable, but not required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with legal document management systems.
