About the position

AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. is seeking an in-house Paralegal I to join our litigation department in Cleveland, Ohio. This position is essential for supporting our legal team, particularly in the area of e-discovery. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and analyzing various legal sources, including statutes and judicial decisions, to effectively respond to subpoenas served on any entity within the AmTrust group of companies. The role requires a proactive approach to collecting, reviewing, redacting, categorizing, and producing documents using AmTrust's proprietary e-discovery platform in response to subpoenas and other legal matters. In addition to document management, the Paralegal I will communicate with clients, witnesses, adversaries, and team members to address the e-discovery needs of AmTrust. This position demands interaction with individuals at all levels of the organization, necessitating strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. The candidate will handle confidential information with discretion and maintain data integrity within the computer platform. The Paralegal I will support various attorneys and non-attorneys across multiple facets of AmTrust's business, including responding to subpoenas, litigation discovery requests, internal investigations, regulatory compliance matters, special investigations, and corporate due diligence. Staying current with market trends and demands is also a key aspect of this role, along with performing other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, and legal articles to respond to subpoenas.
  • Collect, review, redact, categorize (e-tag), and produce documents using AmTrust's e-discovery platform.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, adversaries, and team members regarding e-discovery needs.
  • Interact with individuals at all levels within the company as part of the litigation department.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Handle confidential information discreetly.
  • Maintain data integrity in the computer platform.
  • Support multiple attorneys and non-attorneys in various legal matters including subpoenas and litigation discovery requests.
  • Keep current with market trends and demands.
  • Perform other functionally related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience as a paralegal
  • Formal paralegal certificate
  • 1+ year demonstrated experience in litigation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with document review and production
  • Basic understanding of rules concerning responding to discovery requests
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task
  • 3+ years of experience with an e-discovery system in connection with litigation
