The Paralegal II - E-discovery Specialist plays a crucial role as a coordinator, support person, and subject matter expert within a dynamic team. This position is responsible for developing and supporting e-discovery efforts for the organization, serving as a subject matter expert in this area. The Paralegal II E-discovery Specialist will assist in training other members of the Legal department in the utilization of e-discovery tools while also providing assistance to attorneys in preparation for hearings, trials, mediations, and other proceedings through research, investigation, and internal and external communication. They will support and coordinate document preparation, scheduling, and project management to ensure exceptional support for the Legal department and business partners.

Responsibilities

  • Support and lead efforts to implement an effective, efficient, and user-friendly e-discovery platform.
  • Develop e-discovery processes within the department and train others in the system.
  • Troubleshoot issues and problem-solve to ensure appropriate documents are received.
  • Create litigation files for attorneys by organizing files and drafting pleadings.
  • Assist in propounding and responding to discovery requests.
  • Conduct legal research and factual investigations.
  • Prepare litigation strategy memos and assist with trial preparation work.
  • Provide mediation assistance by reviewing claim files and identifying relevant issues and documents.
  • Create mediation memos for attorneys and assist claims examiners as needed.
  • Organize and track case files, schedule depositions, and coordinate court reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies or a bachelor's degree with completion of a paralegal program.
  • Four (4) years of paralegal experience, including expertise in e-discovery.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
