About the position

The Paralegal II position at CareSource is designed to provide essential support to the Office of the General Counsel across various substantive areas of law, including but not limited to Contracts, Privacy, Intellectual Property, Real Estate, M&A, Employment, Regulatory, Governance, and Litigation. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the legal team operates efficiently and effectively, addressing a wide range of legal inquiries and document preparation tasks. The Paralegal II will act as the first point of contact for both internal and external inquiries, demonstrating a strong understanding of the legal issues at hand and providing timely responses. In this role, the Paralegal II will be responsible for reviewing and preparing a variety of legal documents, such as affidavits, contracts, correspondence, forms, filings, leases, legal notices, memorandums, and responses to government agencies. The position requires effective research skills to summarize legal issues using various resources, including search engines, articles, and judicial decisions. The ability to initiate, gather, and analyze information related to legal issues is crucial, as is the capacity to make informed recommendations based on that analysis. The Paralegal II must prioritize their workload effectively, monitor deadlines, and communicate relevant information accurately and confidentially to internal and external partners. This role may also involve handling administrative responsibilities as delegated by senior attorneys, ensuring that all tasks are completed with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The position is situated in a general office environment, where the individual may be required to sit or stand for extended periods, reflecting the dynamic nature of the legal field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to attorneys on the CareSource Legal team
  • Act as first level responder to internal and external inquiries related to areas of responsibility
  • Review and/or prepare a variety of legal documents including affidavits, contracts, correspondence, forms, filings, leases, legal notices, memorandums, and responses to government agencies
  • Effectively research and summarize legal issues using search engines, articles, judicial decisions, and other resources
  • Initiate, gather and analyze information related to various legal issues and make recommendations
  • Effectively prioritize workload and monitor deadlines
  • Accurately communicate relevant and potentially sensitive information to and from internal and external partners
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise good judgment
  • May handle administrative responsibilities delegated by senior attorneys
  • Perform any other job duties as requested

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience is required
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience as a paralegal or legal assistant is required
  • Healthcare and/or managed care experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytic, research and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong customer service and team orientation
  • Ability to excel in fluid, dynamic environment
  • Excellent critical thinking and listening skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Excellent time/project management and prioritization skills
