About the position

The Paralegal II position provides essential support to the Governance team within Aston Carter. Under the guidance of a manager, the paralegal will be responsible for resolving routine legal issues that arise in the course of the team's operations. This role requires thorough research and analysis of various legal sources, including statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes. The paralegal will prepare a range of legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, and contracts, ensuring that all materials are accurate and comply with legal standards. Candidates for this position should possess a bachelor's degree and have between 5 to 8 years of experience in the legal field or a related area. The role demands familiarity with a variety of legal concepts, practices, and procedures, as well as the ability to rely on experience and judgment to effectively plan and accomplish goals. The paralegal will perform a variety of tasks and may lead and direct the work of others, showcasing a wide degree of creativity and latitude in their approach to problem-solving. Typically, this position reports directly to an attorney, facilitating a collaborative environment where legal expertise is shared and developed. This is a contract position with a duration of 6 months, and it requires a hybrid work arrangement, with some days spent on-site in locations such as Washington D.C., Seattle, or Nashville, and other days working remotely. The work environment is designed to foster flexibility while ensuring that team members can collaborate effectively when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Governance team.
  • Resolve routine legal issues under the direction of a manager.
  • Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
  • Prepare legal documents including briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, and contracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5-8 years of experience in the legal field or a related area.
  • Strong legal writing skills with at least 3 years of experience.
