About the position

As a Paralegal II at Cambia, you will play a crucial role in supporting our legal team in managing business transactions and litigation matters. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about serving others and thrive in a collaborative environment. You will be responsible for providing high-level paralegal services to Cambia attorneys, contributing to our mission of creating a person-focused health care experience. Your work will involve assisting in-house attorneys with the discovery process, maintaining databases related to business transactions and litigation, and preparing various legal documents. You will also manage individual litigation cases, which includes preparing intake forms, collecting case background information, scheduling witness interviews, and preparing discovery requests and responses. This role requires a keen attention to detail, as you will proofread legal documents to ensure they are error-free. Responsibilities

  • Supports and assists in-house attorneys with the discovery process.
  • Maintains databases and other information repositories relating to business transactions and litigation case status and deadlines.
  • Assists in-house attorneys in preparing litigation reports and other legal documents.
  • Performs individual litigation case management support services, including preparation of intake forms, collection of case background information, identification and preliminary interviews of internal fact witnesses, scheduling of witness interviews and depositions, preparation of initial case background memorandum, preparation of discovery requests and responses and completion of litigation case closed matter report.
  • Addresses legal inquiries personally and responds to requests for information, with input from supervisor, as necessary.
  • Performs special projects and duties as assigned by in-house attorneys and approved by supervisor.
  • Proofreads legal documents for spelling, grammar and substance to ensure they are error free.

Requirements

  • College degree and/or paralegal program certificate and 5-7 years of experience as a paralegal in a corporate legal department or law firm or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior health plan or provider experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience working with corporate contracts.
  • Experience with regulatory healthcare guidelines.
  • Complex litigation experience.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of simple mathematics, grammar and techniques of business and legal composition.
  • Use of standard office equipment including telephone, personal computer, facsimile machine, calculator, copier/scanner.
  • Proficiency in Windows PC applications, including Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, Outlook, Excel, Office 360, One Note, Skype, Adobe.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and court rules in each jurisdiction within which Cambia operates.
  • Ability to exercise judgment, initiative and discretion in confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Ability to identify and prioritize workload, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to organize information and communicate both orally and in writing with outside attorneys and executives and all levels of employees and management.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and assume increasingly complex responsibilities.
