About the position

As a Senior Paralegal at our leading personal injury law firm, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys through comprehensive legal research, meticulous document preparation, and effective case management. This position requires you to lead and oversee the paralegal team, manage workloads, ensure the accuracy of legal documents and court proceedings, and handle billing procedures. You will also be responsible for tracking continuing education hours and maintaining the highest standards in all produced work. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, providing a structured environment conducive to professional growth. In this role, you will oversee the administration of personal injury cases from inception to resolution, ensuring that all case files are meticulously maintained and up-to-date. You will collaborate with attorneys on active litigation, including responding to discovery requests, subpoenas, and other litigation-related documents. Your responsibilities will also include drafting, proofreading, and finalizing legal documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, and correspondence, as well as preparing trial exhibits and organizing case files for court proceedings. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation and organization of discovery documents, manage electronic court filings (ECF), and maintain regular communication with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on case progress. Your role will involve reviewing and summarizing medical records, assisting attorneys in trial preparation, handling settlement documentation, conducting legal research, and providing general administrative support. You will also mentor and support junior paralegals, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administration of personal injury cases from inception to resolution, ensuring all case files are meticulously maintained and up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with attorneys on active litigation, including responding to discovery requests, subpoenas, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Draft, proofread, and finalize legal documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, and correspondence.
  • Prepare trial exhibits and organize case files for court proceedings.
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of discovery documents, including medical records, interrogatories, requests for production, and deposition summaries.
  • Manage electronic court filings (ECF), ensuring all documents are submitted accurately and timely.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to gather necessary information, provide updates on case progress, and address any questions or concerns.
  • Review and summarize medical records, depositions, and other documents pertinent to personal injury cases.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for trial, including the creation of PowerPoint presentations, deposition summaries, and trial exhibits.
  • Handle the preparation and processing of settlement documents and payments.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, and other resources to support case development and strategy.
  • Draft and manage all necessary correspondence, ensuring professional and timely communication with all parties involved.
  • Provide general administrative support, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and maintaining expense reports.
  • Stay current with continuing education requirements and ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory standards.
  • Mentor and support junior paralegals, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Requirements

  • Valid Paralegal Certificate certification.
  • Bachelor's degree or Florida Registered Paralegal Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant plaintiff personal injury experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong empathy and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English.
  • Ability to multitask and handle high-stress, sensitive situations with strict confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Filevine, and Lead Docket.
  • Capable of exercising independent judgment and maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Strong planning and reporting abilities; reliable and dependable.
  • Able to type at least 45 WPM and navigate multiple software applications efficiently.
  • Exceptional proofreading skills, with a keen eye for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and quickly learn and retain new information.
