Thermo Fisher offers a dynamic and inclusive opportunity for a proactive Litigation Paralegal to support diverse in-house and outside litigation teams. This role can be based in the Company's Pittsburgh, PA (Pittsburgh area) or Waltham, MA (Boston area) locations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist internal and external litigators with a diverse portfolio of civil litigation matters, including early case assessment, discovery, trial, and appeals.
  • Support litigation projects, lead fact investigation, document collection, review and production; discovery requests; and conduct witness interviews and deposition preparation.
  • Support responses to demands, threatened claims, and requests for information from third parties, and subpoenas.
  • Lead insurance reimbursement process for defense and indemnity costs.
  • Lead all aspects of litigation holds, new case intake process, database management; coordinate litigation dockets.
  • Perform legal research and fact investigation.
  • Support legal projects, including data management, process improvement and litigation spend.
  • Collaborate across business functions and geographic boundaries, building scalable processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial litigation experience at a major law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Consistent track record of leading strategic projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with eDiscovery tools (knowledge of Relativity a plus).
  • Understanding of federal, state and local civil procedure.
  • Project management skills in either legal or scientific/engineering context.
  • Goal and detail oriented; self-directed and skilled in prioritization and multitasking.
  • Inquisitive mentality and desire to grow and learn new skills and step outside traditional paralegal tasks.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools such as Teams, Excel, Power Point, Power BI, Smartsheets.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills, strong initiative, results-orientation, collaborative/team instinct, and can-do approach.
