About the position

The Temporary Paralegal in CrescentCare's Legal Services department will assist attorneys in representing minors seeking Special Immigrant Juvenile Status with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). This role involves completing applications, conducting client meetings, and performing legal research, while ensuring clients have access to necessary benefits. The paralegal will play a crucial role in providing trauma-informed services to minor patients and their guardians, contributing to the overall mission of serving underserved populations in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to the attorney and legal team in immigration cases before state and federal courts.
  • Conduct client interviews, factual investigations, document preparation, and legal research and writing.
  • Maintain a personal tickler system to ensure all case deadlines are met.
  • Attend necessary trainings on immigration law and processes.
  • Participate in outreach and educational initiatives to increase community awareness of legal rights and resources.
  • Collaborate with the legal team and medical-legal partnership colleagues on cases.

Requirements

  • Paralegal degree or JD from an accredited law school.
  • Experience in general law practice through law school clinic work, externships, or similar training.
  • Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
