About the position

Blaies & Hightower, LLP is a mid-sized law firm located in Downtown Fort Worth, specializing in civil litigation, including commercial litigation, insurance defense, personal injury, wrongful death, and medical malpractice. The firm is dedicated to providing exceptional legal services to its clients, and the team of skilled professionals plays a crucial role in its success. Currently, the firm is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Paralegal to join its team, focusing on insurance defense and personal injury law. The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 3 years of experience in the relevant legal fields and will be highly organized, capable of managing multiple cases in a fast-paced environment. The Paralegal will work closely with attorneys to support them throughout all phases of litigation, ensuring that all necessary documentation and case preparations are completed efficiently and accurately. This role requires a proactive approach to assisting attorneys with case preparation, conducting legal research, and managing case files. The Paralegal will also be responsible for preparing for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials, as well as communicating with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with case preparation, including drafting legal documents, pleadings, and discovery responses.
  • Conduct legal research, gather facts, and prepare case files for trial.
  • Organize and manage case files, including electronic filing of documents in state and federal courts.
  • Prepare for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials by organizing exhibits, witness files, and case binders.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel.
  • Summarize medical records, deposition transcripts, and legal documents.
  • Coordinate deadlines and assist in managing attorney schedules.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including creating trial binders and exhibits.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Insurance/Personal Injury law
  • Proficiency with legal research tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
