About the position

The College of the Canyons is currently accepting applications for the Adjunct Instructor Applicant Pool, specifically for the Paralegal (Law) program. This adjunct pool is open on a fiscal year basis for continuous recruitment, allowing for department assignments as needed. Applicants should carefully review the application material requirements to ensure successful submission, as applications will not be considered until all required documents are received. Teaching assignments may occur at the Valencia or Canyon Country campus, or other college teaching locations, and these part-time faculty positions do not accrue rights to tenure. The positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of students in achieving their educational goals. The college provides a wide range of opportunities in transfer, general education, vocational, and occupational programs. Adjunct faculty members are expected to assume leadership roles within the department and the institution as a whole, demonstrating a commitment to serving the needs of students, the department, the college, and the community. Collaboration across disciplines and the utilization of student support resources are essential. Faculty members will participate in department, division, and college committees, as well as in participatory governance activities. They will also engage in curriculum and program development, work collegially within the college community, and participate in ongoing professional development. In terms of teaching responsibilities, faculty members must create a dynamic learning environment that values instructor-student interaction and effectively engages students from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. They should be able to adapt their teaching pedagogy to the knowledge of each individual and class, self-reflect, and respond to evidence-based assessments of student learning. A demonstrated experience and commitment to integrating new technologies into the learning process, including interactive technologies for both on-campus and online courses, is also required.
