About the position

The Stuart office of Luks, Santaniello, Petrillo, Cohen and Peterfriend is seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Assistant to support our Nursing Home/Assisted Living Defense team. Our firm, which boasts over 200 attorneys, is dedicated to defending professionals, corporations, and their insurance companies across eleven offices throughout Florida. The role of a Legal Assistant is crucial in our commitment to securing equal justice in the courtroom for our clients. As a Legal Assistant, you will work closely with our attorneys from the inception of a case through to its conclusion, including trial preparation and support. Candidates for this position must possess extensive experience in document review, trial preparation, handling discovery, drafting legal documents, and managing case paperwork. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills, which are essential for success in this role. You will be responsible for creating reports and documents for lawyers based on case specifications and requests, assisting in the preparation of legal arguments, motions, and other case filings. Additionally, you will utilize our case management system for all ongoing and completed cases, and leverage existing files and various legal research resources to gather information for pending cases. Secretarial duties, such as scheduling and coordinating depositions and meetings, will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Create reports and documents for lawyers based on case specifications and requests
  • Help lawyers prepare legal arguments, motions, and other case filings
  • Utilize case management system for all ongoing and completed cases
  • Utilize existing files and a variety of other legal research resources to develop information for pending cases
  • Perform secretarial duties such as scheduling and coordinating depositions and meetings

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years' experience working in insurance defense
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proven ability to handle multiple concurrent responsibilities in a highly dynamic environment
  • Strong ability to work efficiently and effectively with time-sensitive materials
  • Excellent judgment and demonstrated discretion in handling confidential information
  • Ability to maintain organized files and databases
  • Proficiency with productivity tools such as Google Workspace, Dropbox, and Office 365

Nice-to-haves

  • AIM/Perfect Law experience a plus
  • Experience as a Nursing Home Paralegal preferred
