The Paralegal/Legal Assistant position involves providing essential clerical and administrative support to attorneys and paralegals, particularly in the area of family law. Responsibilities

• Provide clerical and administrative support to attorneys and paralegals
• Organize and maintain legal documents, files, and records
• Conduct proofreading and editing of legal documents for accuracy and completeness
• Assist with data entry tasks, including inputting client information into databases
• Utilize document management systems to organize and retrieve files as needed
• Maintain attorney schedule, deadlines, etc.
• Communicate with court staff and opposing counsel staff for scheduling
• File legal documents with courts
• Transcribe dictations and prepare correspondence and legal documents
• Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate person or department with professionalism and excellent phone etiquette
• Client billing and collections

Requirements

• Previous experience as a paralegal focused in family law or in a similar administrative role preferred
• Familiarity with legal terminology, processes, and procedures is a plus
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
• Attention to detail and strong proofreading skills to ensure accuracy of legal documents
• Proficient in data entry and document management systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
