About the position

We are a family-run litigation law firm, practicing in New Jersey for over sixty years, in need of a friendly, positive, responsible and self-motivated individual to join our office as a paralegal. The role requires experience in litigation, and competent skills in clerical tasks, calendar organization, client relations, and trial preparation. We are located in the Legal Center, attached to Newark Penn Station, easily accessible by public transportation. Our office hours are from 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, and the candidate will be responsible for the following: Managing, maintaining and being fully responsible for the law office's calendar and scheduling. Assisting attorneys with case preparation, including drafting legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings. Conducting legal research and analysis to support case strategies and client needs. Managing and organizing case files, ensuring all documents are accurate and up-to-date. Coordinating and communicating with clients, courts, and other parties involved in legal proceedings. Ensuring proper noticing of clients for all court dates and exam appointments. Assisting in preparation for depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial. Monitoring deadlines to ensure all are met. Stocking office with necessary supplies and other administrative tasks. The candidate should also be self-motivated and self-directed, possess experience as a paralegal, have the ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure, and possess the standard level of computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office and Dropbox. Fluency in English is required, and candidates who are fluent in Spanish both verbally and in writing will be preferred.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with legal research tools and databases.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in Spanish both verbally and in writing is preferred.
  • 3 years of office experience is preferred.
