About the position

Foley Lewis Law Group, PLLC is a Civil Litigation Defense Law Firm located in Vancouver, Washington, seeking a highly motivated full-time Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our team. This in-office position requires a candidate with prior law firm experience to proficiently assist in all aspects of the litigation process. The ideal candidate will demonstrate consistency, reliability, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively while maintaining file organization in a high-volume workload environment. Excellent writing and communication skills are essential, as the successful applicant will work under the supervision of licensed attorneys and staff. The role demands flexibility and foresight in planning to achieve goals successfully. A positive attitude and the ability to remain calm and professional while interacting with diverse personalities in a deadline-driven, high-expectation environment are crucial. The position operates from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime hours required due to workload demands. Candidates should have a minimum of two to three years of experience in civil litigation matters, with personal injury paralegal experience and familiarity with insurance defense, appellate actions, and multi-jurisdictional litigation being ideal but not mandatory. Proficiency in e-filing in both State and Federal Courts is required, along with a Notary Public certification and an American Bar Association (ABA) approved Paralegal Certificate. A degree in a related field is preferred, and bilingual skills are a plus. Technologically, candidates should be well-versed in Microsoft Office software, Adobe Pro, and other web-based applications, with a willingness to learn new software. Strong written skills in editing, proofreading, and composition are necessary, as is a professional demeanor and work ethic, even under pressure. The role requires a high degree of personal integrity, confidentiality, and judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Daily handling of case files from inception through closure.
  • Taking ownership of assigned files including file management/organization, deadline monitoring, and scheduling.
  • Retrieving and summarizing medical records.
  • Drafting pleadings and motions, and conducting party investigations.
  • Preparing deposition and trial binders, and assisting with trial/arbitration/mediation preparation and attendance.
  • Coordinating case events and managing calendars.
  • Performing copying, scanning, and word processing revisions.
  • Organizing data and evidence, including digital organization and internal filing.
  • Preparing packages and mail for delivery, and generating correspondence.
  • Updating and modifying calendar entries, and monitoring changes.
  • Scheduling and communicating with couriers, court reporters, and videographers.
  • Transcribing audio files and tracking/requesting records from various sources.
  • Formatting pleadings and drafting templates, and forwarding invoices.
  • Maintaining communication with paralegals and attorneys regarding project progress.
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime hours as needed.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two to three years' experience in civil litigation matters.
  • Proficient with e-filing in both State and Federal Courts.
  • A Notary Public certification is preferred.
  • American Bar Association (ABA) approved Paralegal Certificate is ideal.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Current knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe Pro.
  • Excellent skills in editing, proofreading, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and composition.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and work ethic under pressure.
  • High degree of personal integrity, commitment, confidentiality, tact, discretion, and judgment.
