About the position

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a detail-oriented Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join a small company in Lincoln, NE. The successful candidate for this role will have previous experience in a legal setting and be able to work independently to complete projects. This position involves a variety of essential duties and responsibilities that are critical to the functioning of the legal office. The Paralegal/Legal Assistant will be responsible for researching, preparing, and reviewing legal information pertaining to judicial decisions, appropriate laws, legal articles, and other materials relevant to court cases. Additionally, the role requires drafting contracts, leases, agreements, motions, statements, pleadings, and other legal documents. The candidate will also gather records, files, and written reports, retain, file, and organize files and prepared legal documents, and assist in interviewing potential witnesses, drafting arguments and statements, and preparing affidavits. The Paralegal/Legal Assistant will respond to interrogations and coordinate counsel requests, assist attorneys with discovery, trial preparation, hearings, and closing, and provide general support in a law office setting. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule, and the pay is dependent on experience, education, and skills. Responsibilities

  • Research, prepare, and review legal information pertaining to judicial decisions, appropriate laws, legal articles, and other materials relevant to court cases

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a legal setting required
  • AS in Legal Studies or a related field required
  • Familiarity with legal case management software required
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing
  • Knowledge of document management systems
  • Ability to maintain organized files and documents
  • High degree of professionalism with excellent communication skills
