About the position

The San Diego location of MURPHY JONES APC (MJ APC) is seeking an energetic, fun, highly organized, and detail-oriented paralegal to join their team. MJ APC is a boutique law firm that specializes in professional license defense in administrative proceedings. The firm is dedicated to providing high-quality, zealous legal representation to licensed professionals who are facing disciplinary actions from their licensing boards. As a paralegal at MJ APC, you will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys and ensuring that clients receive the best possible legal assistance. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks efficiently and maintain a high level of accuracy in all work performed. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are essential to the functioning of the law practice. You will organize files, docket events, fill out legal forms, and draft letters and simple court documents. Additionally, you will prepare trial binders, exhibits, and contracts by customizing standard forms. Your research skills will be put to the test as you conduct thorough investigations into laws and judicial decisions, as well as current and past cases. You will assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, communicate with clients to provide updates and gather necessary information, and review pending legislation. The position also involves drafting motions and other court documents, preparing discovery, and responding to discovery demands. Responsibilities

  • Organizing files
  • Docketing (Scheduling) events
  • Filling out legal forms
  • Drafting letters and simple court documents
  • Drafting documents by customizing standard forms
  • Preparing Trial Binders
  • Preparing Exhibit, Exhibit Table of Contents, and individual Exhibit Tabs, combining into the comprehensive packet to be included in the transmitting relative Notice, Discovery Production, Written Response, etc.
  • Preparing contracts by customizing standard forms
  • Writing reports and legal documents
  • Making thorough research about laws and judicial decisions, about current as well as past cases
  • Helping attorneys prepare cases for hearings
  • Assisting lawyers in the courtroom
  • Communicating with clients with updates and gathering information
  • Reviewing pending legislation
  • Assisting with case closing
  • Drafting motions and other court documents
  • Preparing discovery and responses to discovery demands

Requirements

  • 1-5 years experience in a Law Firm setting is preferred
  • Microsoft Office: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Paralegal: 3 years (Preferred)
