About the position

Heideman & Associates is seeking a dedicated litigation paralegal/legal assistant to join our team in Provo, UT. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys throughout all phases of the litigation process. This includes assisting with client intake, conducting legal research, preparing and filing documents, and attending trials. The position requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. A Bachelor's degree or prior legal experience is preferred, as it will enhance the candidate's ability to navigate the complexities of legal procedures and documentation effectively. In this role, you will be responsible for performing various administrative duties such as calendaring and monitoring hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and scheduling meetings with clients. You will also be tasked with formatting and constructing pleadings, discovery documents, correspondence, and other legal documents. Managing correspondence between the attorney and clients is essential, as is the organization and maintenance of both physical and electronic client files. You will be required to electronically file documents with Federal and State Courts and track and monitor all cases diligently. The position demands excellent written and verbal communication skills, a professional appearance, and a positive attitude. You will provide proactive support to the attorney and the firm, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. This is a full-time position with an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday, and the pay starts at $14 per hour, with full benefits offered after a 90-day waiting period.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative duties including calendaring and monitoring hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and scheduling with clients.
  • Format and construct various pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • Manage correspondence between attorney and clients.
  • Organize and maintain physical and electronic client files.
  • Perform electronic filing with Federal and State Courts.
  • Track and monitor all cases.
  • Provide proactive support to the attorney and firm.
  • Complete other tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of court requirements and procedures, including Federal and State Court filing deadlines.
  • Experience with Federal and State Court electronic filing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, prioritize, organize, be proactive, and work under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain a large caseload.
  • High attention to detail, self-motivated, quick learner.
  • Ability to both follow instructions and ask questions where needed, and to think and work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • Bachelor's Degree or prior legal experience is preferred.
