About the position

Sugarman Law Firm, LLP, a leading firm in Upstate New York, is seeking a dedicated Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our Syracuse office. This position is integral to our operations, as the firm specializes in representing licensed professionals such as doctors, nurses, architects, engineers, and accountants, as well as municipalities engaged in complex litigation. Our practice areas include substantial construction, commercial, insurance, and personal injury law. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in assisting attorneys with the day-to-day handling of cases from inception through trial, ensuring that all legal processes are followed meticulously and efficiently. In this role, the Paralegal/Legal Assistant will be responsible for drafting and revising legal documents, conducting thorough legal research, and gathering relevant case information to support our attorneys. The position requires excellent organizational skills to schedule and maintain attorney calendars, as well as the ability to communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel. Additionally, the candidate will handle filing and other administrative tasks, contributing to the overall efficiency of the legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of Paralegal or Legal Assistant experience, with a strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures. Familiarity with New York State and Federal court filing procedures, including e-filing, is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and WordPerfect, along with the ability to operate various office technologies, is required. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are critical for success in this position.
