About the position

Kontoor Brands is currently seeking a Paralegal, Litigation and Compliance to support Kontoor's legal department on a global scale. This role is crucial in onboarding new law firms, ensuring that invoices comply with our billing policy, resolving billing disputes, monitoring legal expenditures, and addressing complex issues related to maintaining the legal team's budget. The ideal candidate will possess both technical and operational experience, which will aid in making informed decisions regarding our billing platform, Legal Tracker. Additionally, the Paralegal will work closely with the Kontoor Legal team to assist with operational, litigation, compliance, and other related matters. In this position, you will oversee the relationship with outside counsel and other legal-facing vendors, assisting with billing, invoicing, and payment processes. You will monitor legal spending and identify opportunities for savings and increased efficiency, while also assisting the Kontoor Legal team in developing and implementing the annual budget and forecast. Managing the vendor payment process using our e-billing software will be a key responsibility, as you partner with finance and accounting teams to manage accrual processes for the team's expenditures. Moreover, you will optimize and enhance the use of technology to manage department spending in accordance with our Outside Counsel Billing Guidelines. Identifying opportunities and implementing solutions to automate and standardize legal department processes will be part of your role, as well as assisting in planning, developing, implementing, reviewing, and updating policies and procedures. You will take the lead in issuing litigation holds and responding to subpoenas and garnishment-related issues, assist in the collection, processing, and review of discovery-related documents for litigation purposes, track case deadlines, report docket updates, and maintain a litigation calendar. Additionally, maintaining and updating compliance-related projects and assisting with due diligence on third parties will be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Paralegal certificate preferred
  • 5 plus years' experience
  • Knowledge of corporate laws and contracts
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of Legal Tracker is preferred
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Positive mindset and an affinity for problem solving
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
  • Strong organization and interpersonal communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, reasoning, verbal communication, and written communication)
