About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Paralegal with a focus on legal research to support attorneys in a government setting. This role involves conducting complex legal research, managing document reviews, and handling critical case materials to support public safety and legal integrity.

Responsibilities

• Conduct extensive legal research on statutes, case law, rules, and regulations; prepare case/research binders and summarize findings for attorneys.
• Review and redact records for discovery, subpoenas, third-party requests, and open records requests.
• Draft and prepare various legal documents and correspondence for attorneys.
• Manage document organization by pulling court documents from online dockets, tracking litigation progress, and monitoring critical legal deadlines.
• Assist in reviewing and revising policies, contracts, and proposed legislation.
• Facilitate communication between attorneys and law enforcement, courts, and other legal entities.
• Organize and maintain digital and physical legal files; support attorneys with scheduling and calendar management.
• Maintain legal resources and subscriptions for the Legal Division.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent AND experience in legal administrative experience with a focus on research OR a paralegal certificate.
• Strong legal research skills, with experience using Lexis Nexis or Westlaw.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and the ability to multi-task effectively.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with government agencies (local, state, or federal).
• Proficiency in Lexis Nexis, Westlaw, and online court filing systems.
• Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe.
