About the position

Dinsmore & Shohl LLP is seeking a Paralegal to join our team in Denver, CO, specializing in Tort Litigation. This position is crucial in supporting multiple attorneys by managing various aspects of case preparation and documentation. The ideal candidate will serve as the main point of contact for all assigned cases, ensuring that all tasks associated with document production and distribution are handled efficiently. The role requires a proactive approach to research, including medical and legal literature, and the ability to locate and interview medical experts. As a liaison between law firms, medical experts, and other parties, the paralegal will prepare essential documents such as medical record chronologies, charts, diagrams, expert witness reports, and timelines that are vital for formulating medical-legal case theories. In addition to these responsibilities, the paralegal will contact clients and opposing firms regarding examinations under oath and court calendar matters, acting as a court liaison between judges, court administration, attorneys, and the public. The role also involves assisting in trial preparation, which includes organizing and preparing trial exhibits, trial notebooks, and binders, as well as assisting attorneys with client depositions. The paralegal will be responsible for organizing and maintaining case files, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up-to-date. Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all assigned cases
  • Handle all tasks associated with document production and distribution for attorneys
  • Research medical and legal literature
  • Locate and interview medical experts
  • Serve as a liaison between law firms, medical experts and other parties
  • Prepare medical record chronologies, charts, diagrams, expert witness reports and timelines for use in formulating medical-legal case theories
  • Contact clients and opposing firms regarding examinations under oath and court calendar matters
  • Act as court liaison between judges, court administration, attorneys, and public
  • Assist in trial preparation, including organizing and preparing trial exhibits, trial notebooks and binders
  • Assist attorneys with client depositions
  • Organize and maintain case files

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience with general tort, insurance defense, and commercial litigation
  • College degree, ABA-approved paralegal certificate, or experience equivalent
  • Perform high-quality billable work
  • Expertise in assisting attorneys through all phases of litigation
  • Possess the ability to prioritize and manage a diverse case load
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, and confidentiality
  • Possess strong technical and database skills
  • Knowledge and experience with discovery and subpoenas
  • Understanding of federal, state and local rules of civil procedure
  • Electronic document management experience
  • Willingness to learn and master new software
  • Must have the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
