About the position

Our client, a growing and reputable law firm located near the Galleria/Uptown Park area, is seeking to hire an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join their team. This position is crucial in supporting attorneys during all phases of litigation, ensuring that the legal processes run smoothly and efficiently. As a Litigation Paralegal, you will be responsible for managing and indexing large document productions and summarizing depositions during the discovery phase. You will assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, and trials, as well as subpoenaing records. Your role will also involve supporting attorneys in managing litigation cases, which includes document collection and preservation, document review, and maintaining the case filing and discovery database. You will be expected to index and summarize documents, conduct case management, and perform research while handling a varied docket. Additionally, you will assist with scheduling, drafting correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents. Preparing documents for depositions and trials, as well as electronically filing documents when necessary, will also be part of your responsibilities. This position requires a proactive approach and the ability to adapt to the dynamic nature of litigation work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys during all phases of litigation including managing and indexing large document production and deposition summaries during discovery.
  • Support attorneys in managing litigation cases including document collection and preservation, document review, document production tasks, and maintaining case filing and discovery database.
  • Indexing and summarizing documents.
  • Conduct case management, research, and handle a varied docket.
  • Assist with scheduling, drafting correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare documents for depositions and trial and file documents electronically when needed.

Requirements

  • Five plus years of experience with extensive experience in litigation matters, both Federal and State court.
  • Trial experience including handling logistics, attending trial, handling trial exhibits and demonstratives, assisting with pre-trial filings and filings during trial.
  • Ability to efficiently handle multiple cases with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, proofreading, editing, and writing skills.
  • Experience reviewing medical records and drafting medical summaries.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced level) - Outlook, Word, Excel - and Adobe.
  • Team player with excellent people skills as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Must possess the ability to adapt to changes in court, business, and firm policies and strategies.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year accredited school.
  • Experience handling appellate cases a plus.
