The paralegal will support attorneys in the areas of class actions, intellectual property, government investigations, product liability, and general commercial litigation nationwide, with a heavy focus on discovery. This individual will assist attorneys in all phases of case development, including document collection, review, and preparation for production, deposition preparation, and document organization. The role involves preparing requests for documents and information, collecting, reviewing, and preparing documents for production in litigated matters. The paralegal will collaborate with other business units and third-party vendors to collect documents and information for production in discovery. Additionally, the paralegal will assist in the preparation of detailed draft responses to discovery requests including interrogatories, requests for production of documents, and requests for admissions. Effective communication and collaboration with both in-house and outside counsel, other business units, and third-party vendors are essential. Maintaining litigation files in the Document Management System and developing knowledge of structured databases and document review platforms are also key responsibilities. The paralegal will ensure compliance with Records Management Program policies, conduct legal and investigative research as required, and maintain and update discovery logs. Implementing and maintaining litigation holds, assisting with defensible electronic discovery collections and document review, and collaborating with Records Management program and eDiscovery requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations are also part of the job. The position requires assisting in the management of vendors in conjunction with the Purchasing Department and performing other duties as assigned. This is a support position, focused on delivering day-to-day tasks and analyses with a degree of autonomy while receiving general instructions and supervision.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Four or more years of in-house or law firm experience, specifically in litigation paralegal roles related to the automotive industry or complex commercial litigation.
  • Paralegal Certificate or compliance with requirements of California Business & Professions Code section 6450(c)(3).
  • Experience in MS Office 365 with emphasis in Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
  • Superior organizational skills.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and perform with little or no direction.
  • Ability to interact with individuals from other departments.
